Disability Awareness: Multiple Sclerosis – MS – Awareness Week
In our disability benefits practice, we see more and more people suffering from the disabling effects of Multiple Sclerosis That is probably because the medical community is getting better at recognizing the symptoms of MS and diagnosing it. This year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is sponsoring MS Awareness Week from March 7-13, 2016. Please take time to learn more about MS, and how devastating it can be.
The symptoms of MS can be broad, but the common ones are:
- Numbness or Tingling
- Balance Issues
- Walking Problems
- Muscle Spasticity
- Vision Problems
- Focus and Concentration Problems
- Bowel Problems
- And more…
It is not hard to see how these problems can develop into disabling level limitations. The problem for many MS patients is that they suffer with these problems for quite some time before they are diagnosed. It usually takes an evaluation by a neurologist and an MRI to confirm lesions in the brain. Once that is done, treatment can be elusive. For more about MS symptoms, visit the National MS Society website at Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.
This week, please learn more about MS, a horrible disease that robs people of their abilities. A great place to start is at the MS Society web page with their videos. Go to: MS – Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week March 7-13
